NEW RULE; the Big Idea/ Strategy to help with this new world we live in:

“How to NOT Suck at Networking.  I like to look at it from the inside out.  I teach strategies to help you connect with your ideal clients in a networking situation, but if you don’t see yourself as the expert, if you don't have confidence that exudes with your words and actions  - it is very difficult to convince someone to give you their time and eventually their money. “

Why it’s important; benefits both personally and professionally:

“It has been the way I have built my business.  I have seen so many people waste time and money doing it wrong.  I know there are many organizations who teach how to network within their organizations, but they aren't for everyone and people don't always learn how to best use those techniques outside of those organizations.  I think that you are the same person all of the time, we wear many hats but who we are is, who we are.  If I can begin to increase my confidence professionally, it will impact my relationships at home, with my friends; it will change the way I present myself to the world at large.”

How to accomplish the above:

“It begins with taking am honest inventory of what you believe about yourself.  Sometimes a simple change in the way you think can change everything.”

Favorite Quote:

People don't always remember what you do or say, but they always remember how you made them feel.

What do you do to stay motivated or the secret for your motivation:

“I have to pray.  My motivation comes from the inside.  I talk to myself often.  :)  I have heard it said that you believe more what you say to yourself, then what anyone else says to you.  Therefore, I talk to myself often.  I say the things that I need to hear in order to change my beliefs (ie - using scripture) so that I can act on a higher level.”
I encourage people to take time for themselves each and every day. One
of the ways to relax is to read a good book.  A Fiction Book. What is
your Favorite Book:
The Shack by William P. Young

Golden Nuggets:

  • We’ve lost the “human touch”
  • Have something interesting and powerful to share with people so they will be fully engaged with you ~ capture their attention.
  • Create situations where both of you are fully engaged.
  • Don’t talk about yourself.  Take the focus off yourself and be sincerely interested in the other person and what they have to say.
  • Be prepared for networking interactions. What are your goals and strategy for being at the event? Have questions prepared so you don’t ramble.
  • Find topics of human interest to initiate conversations ~ Topics with substance.
  • Use technology to your advantage.   Use google alerts … News alerts …
  • There are different techniques and different things we can utilize to better serve our businesses if we network the right way.
  • Understand the Strategy and Process behind networking so you have realistic expectations.
  • Position networking as part of your sales strategy – There is a Science to Networking.
  • When you Network properly, it can Increase your self-confidence.
  • We associate networking with events but any time you are out and about there is an opportunity for networking.
  • Take an honest inventory about yourself. How do you present yourself to the world?
  • Change the way you think about networking.
  • Talk to your “inner circle” and ask them how you honestly come across with people. You want to be very sincere when you speak with people and network.

Action Steps:

“Look at what your core beliefs really are.  Be honest - remember what you believe is what you do.  If you aren't doing it, you can't honestly say you believe it.
Talk to your peeps!  Ask those in your inner circle, how you come across.  Do you sound genuine when you meet someone for the first time?  Are you selfish in your interactions?
Hire a coach or get involved in a group that teaches you how to make these discoveries so that when you present yourself, your service, your product to the world you do it such a way that you come across as a credible, trustworthy expert who people want to work with.”
